    We know that everything in excess is not good for our health. Same goes to alcohol consumption. If you choose to drink alcohol, do so in moderation. Moderate drinking means up to 1 drink a day for women and up to 2 drinks a day for men. 

   Twelve ounces of regular beer, 5 ounces of wine, or 1.5 ounces of 80-proof distilled spirits count as a drink for purposes of explaining moderation.

Remember that alcoholic beverages have calories but are low in nutritional value.

What are EMPTY CALORIES?

You may have heard and read the term "empty calories" before. But what exactly empty calories means??? Why are they so bad for you , and how can you avoid them?




Empty Calories = High Calories but Low Nutrition



Contains CaloriesCarbohydratesProtein and Fat (collectively known as Macro-nutrients)
No Calories: All vitamins & minerals including antioxidants (collectively known as Micro-nutrients) as well as fiber

"Empty Calories" describes foods high in calories but low in nutritional values (also known as junk food!), lacking the health-promoting micro-nutrients.

Examples of food containing mostly empty calories :
  1. French fries, fried chicken, chips and all other deep-fried foods
  2. Candy, pop and other sweetened packaged foods
  3. Beer, wine and all other alcoholic beverages
  4. Refined grains such as crackers, cookies, white rice and white bread

How to Avoid Empty Calories?

  • Avoid deep-fried foods. Instead of deep-frying, use other methods of cooking. 
  • Avoid sweetened drinks and canned drinks.
  • Try whole grains instead of refined grains. Whole grains are packed with beneficial fiber and antioxidants. For instance, have a slice of whole-wheat bread instead of white bread. Have a bowl of whole-grain breakfast cereals or unsweetened oatmeal instead of corn flakes.
  • Snack on fruits! Instead of prowling for a box of crackers in the mid afternoon, snack on fruits. Better yet, dip them in low-fat yogurt to get additional calcium and protein.

We can't deny that we need food to survive. However, we have to keep in mind that not all foods are beneficial for human's health and consumption. Some gives bad impacts toward human's health such as increasing bad cholesterol level, causing fat accumulation in the body, reducing metabolism rate, and many more effects. However, apart from that, some are also beneficial for human's health and consumption. Food sources such as fruits and vegetables deliver many nutritional benefits. COCA COLA - BOILED EGG

Heyyy Guys!!!! I found out something interesting to be shared with y'all. Actually, this video had been made few years ago, 2008 to be precise. But no matter how, this is really interesting to be watched as it delivers you a picture about how thing is going on which u might not think about it before and/or might not realize it until you watch this video ;)

This video shows how reactive is coca cola since it can cracked the unpeeled boiled egg and can preserved the texture of the boiled egg for about 1 year !! It's CRAZY !!!

So, still dare to drink COCA-COLA or any kinds of soft-drinks ??? LOL XD



Well, actually coca-cola contains caffeine citratecitric acid, and phosphoric acid as its ingredients which can dissolve egg's shell that made up of calciumphosphorus, and sodium. The compositions of egg's shell are more or less similar with our teeth, that is why when we consumed soft-drinks all the time, our teeth will be damaged seriously. Besides, we may experience osteoporosis as well since our bones will lack of calcium due to calcium dissolves in those acids that play a role in coca-cola or soft-drinks ingredients. So, we better avoid soft-drinks for our health !! ;)

Recipe : Creamy Seafood Pasta

Cooking a plate of "premium taste" pasta at home is actually very easy and much cheaper. We can adjust the taste with any ingredients that suit our taste and generate a "luxurious flavour".

CREAMY SEAFOOD PASTA

Good pasta does not require much ingredients. The basics are garlic, onion, basil, olive oil, salt, and pepper to taste. Chopped onion and garlic are used in making this creamy seafood pasta.

For the seafoods, very fresh white prawns and frozen scallops are used. Few leaves of sweet basil are added to the seafoods for flavour.

Button or fresh shitake mushrooms are used as these mushrooms will lend more flavour.

To get that creamy taste, butter will be a good choice. You can substitute with olive oil which is a much healthier choice but what’s a bit of butter, right?

For the pasta, spaghetti is used. If you are boiling spaghetti, remember to keep testing and tasting to make sure that you get the al dente texture which means "it's just right" texture ;)

Spaghetti

For the creamy seafood pasta recipe:
300 gm spaghetti – cook according to the instruction, usually add in a bit of salt during cooking, no oil added. After cooked, drain and leave aside.
4 large prawns
4 scallops (or fish or squid, whatever is fine)
4 cloves garlic and a small onion – chopped till fine
A few sprigs of basil or any type of dried herbs
Cream – 200 ml 
Bit of butter, salt, pepper, black pepper
Parmesan cheese – for sprinkling on pasta

Methods :
1) Heat butter and add in chopped garlic and onion and fry till soft (do not brown)
2) Add prawns and seafoods, stir till change colour
3) Add in cream. Add a bit of water if too dry. Add herbs
4) Flavour with salt and pepper
5) Pour creamy seafood sauce over pasta and serve

READILY SERVED - CREAMY SEAFOOD PASTA


See? Just a few steps. And you get a really nice plate of pasta. Cooking pasta just take a bit of practice. Once you have tried a couple of times, you can experiment with any ingredients.

By consuming high fiber food, it can reduce cholesterol level and reduce constipation. Besides, when we consume high fiber food, we easily feel full and that means it is good for people who walk in body weight reduction program. 

DREDGE THE HEALTHY BENEFITS OF FRUITS AND VEGETABLES
Since fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamins and minerals, it provides a good source of nutrient for our body to maintain our health. Some fruits and vegetables may be rich in antioxidant properties which protect our cells from free-radicals and same goes with the rest of the vitamins and minerals which give different benefits to human's health.

CUT-OFF CALORIES INTAKE AND INCREASE SATISFACTION 
If our goal is to reduce body weight, start the eating ritual by eating "green salad". Vegetables salad can increase satisfaction and afford full feeling, at the same time cut-off calories intake which is good in body weight reduction program.

OBTAINING A GOOD INTAKE OF FAT
Eating monounsaturated fat that exist in olive oil, avocado or nuts, along with vegetables will help our body to absorb phytochemicals that can protect our body, such as lycopene from tomatoes and lutein from dark green vegetables.
